— A world of chosen women, small-town grace—and one very good tea shop.

What’s the Story?

Sisters don't have to share blood to share bonds.

The Sewn Sisters Series begins in Cornell Plains, Nebraska — a small, fictional town where everybody knows your name and the Tea&Thread shop is the warm center of everything.

Four sisters-in-law. One business. One family. A great deal of grace given, withheld, argued over, and eventually received.

Meet Emmy Montgomery

The one who teaches grace and is only beginning to understand it. Doctoral candidate. Wife to Jonathan. Mother to Theo, Elijah, Roman, and Lucy. She co-founded Tea&Thread and runs it the way she runs everything — with warmth, competence, and a thread of anxiety she'd rather nobody notice.

Meet Alex (Alexis) Vail

The baker. The one who says the thing everyone else is thinking. Married to Matthias. She shows love the way she does everything else — with food, and at full volume. Her lemon curd croissants are non-negotiable.

Meet Steph (Stephanie) Vail

The one still becoming. Navigating her own quiet story while the rest of the sisters carry theirs. Her thread in the series weaves slowly and deeply.

Meet Claire Vail

The gentle one. The one who shows up with her arms already open. She meets weekly with young women from the church for discipleship, brings her kids for breakfast before school, and gives the kind of hug that makes you realize how much you needed it.

The World of Cornell Plains

Coffee & Cold Air

Cornell Plains, Nebraska is the kind of place that smells like coffee and cold air, where semi trucks rattle the windows of the tea shop on winter nights and the library is Emmy's oldest sanctuary.

You are Welcome Here.

Tea, Thread, and Women

Tea&Thread is at the center of it — a tea shop, sewing studio, and gathering place for the women of the town. It's where the sisters work, argue, pray, and carry each other. It smells like orange spice and woodsmoke, and both fireplaces flare when the door opens.
